Best places to live in Spain? or if you would not live there why?
I am thinking of moving to Spain and am looking for advice on great spots and bad spots. or opinions of Spain. thanks- Nikki

I lived in Sevilla. If you like a big city, and want the true, old - feel, romantic Spain, nothing can beat it! It's a BEAUTIFUL city. If you can't take heat, though, NOT the place for you, since it gets into the 100s easily, most of the summer. But it's a dry heat, and you CAN tell the difference. Still, 115ºF, (around 42ºC) in the shade at 7:00 PM is pretty hot, no matter how you slice it. If you prefer a bit cooler, there's Granada. I can't think of any small town I know well enough to give you an opinion on, but there are a slew of little bedroom communities to Sevilla, and tons of small towns in AndalucÃa that would fit the bill, if you want a small-town. Stay away from most of the Costa del Sol, but if you really want warm, sunny beaches, there are some towns there that are really pretty. Much of the Costa del Sol is really built up: High rise hotels, and the like. Kinda ugly for my taste. Also, Costa de la Luz is lovely Atlantic beaches. If you need big city with cosmopolitan feel, Madrid, as the capital, has so much to offer, and Barcelona is great, close to France, very modern, and many people won't even ADMIT they are Spanish. WAY cool city! Very diverse. Lots to do. VERY different feel from the very "Spanish" Madrid.

It really depends on you Nikki. Do you want to live in a rural area with local people or do you want to be with the English speaking community. Living a rural life which I do, you will have to learn the language and become part of your community. Some people like being with other Brits or Germans or whatever your nationality. Many Brits head for Torrevieja area which is like little Britain, or the Costa del Sol which has a high concentration of Brits. I disagree with Sue that it is just a concrete jungle. It is around the tourists spots but there are many gorgeous places to live on the Costa del Sol once you are away from the coast. I live on the Costa del Sol. I have relatives who have been there for 30 years. Spain is a great place to live but now isn't the best time to be thinking of moving. The euro- pound exchange rate is bad, though there are are bargains to be had in Spain right now. My advice would be to come to Spain for a few visits and stay in a few places to get the feel of the place.

If you don't need to work then you're choices are endless, and as others have said it is down to your personal preferences. The north of Spain has a climate closer to the British, while still getting a good (by British standards) summer to enjoy the beaches. The rural areas are much greener too. The south does get very, warm obviously. As far as cities go I personally would choose Madrid but I am biased ! But really if you're not looking for work than I would avoid the big cities anyway.

Im Spanish and I wasnt going to answer your question because i feel you should form your own opinion... there is nothing bad i would tell you about my country... except maybe the Balearic islands... I just wanted to answer to the guy who calls himself "Ash" and says Spain is nice because there was a time when it was muslim and it will be muslim again... well.. KEEP DREAMING!, we feel very proud of our rich culture and traditions... but if you are one of those crazy dudes from AlQaeda who thinks that "the old kingdom of Al Andalus will rise again".... yeah well, I would recomend you take your medication. We are not going to give up our territory to a bunch of psychos like you... specially for something that happen more than 500 hundred years ago. Anyways, go to Spain this summer... enjoy the weather, the food, and then youll know for sure if you want to move there to live... not everybody is as crazy as this guy ... trust me!

I'd have to say that PAMPLONA is the best place to stay in only because its a well rounded city. It's a place for families, seniors, and for younger adults and teens to go out and have fun! PAMPLONA is like the gathering place of all northern Spain. In the summer time the Bull Runs are held there as well as fiestas later on in the summer [a great tourist site]. I wouldn't say that it is as beautiful as BARCELONA, but I guess there isn't as much trouble from foreigners as BARCELONA because BARCELONA is the first place touorists tend to visit when they go to Spain. Overall PAMPLONA, Spain is a great place to settle. I hope this helped:)

All Spain is great, but I would stay in southern Spain, every city in Andalucia has it's magical little place.
