how much to live in Spain

how much to live in Spain?
I'm considering traveling to Spain for a few months (Spanish major in college and interested in 3 to 4 months stay). I was just curious as to how much money I would need. I would be there more to learn the spanish language and become more fluent. Of course I would also want money for basic necessities and tourist attractions. Also, if I were to get a visa would it be possible for me to get a job while there for only a few months to help pay for some of the stuff.

If you're from the US you are allowed to stay in Spain for 90 days out of every 180 days without a visa, but you cannot work during this time. You can apply for a long-stay visa, but to qualify for this you will need to have accommodation booked, a good reason for staying longer than three months, and be able to prove you have enough money to support yourself as you will not be able to work. Or, you could apply to study at a Spanish university and go there on a student visa. You will be able to do some work with this visa.

You know, most people who consider living in another country while in college, do so through the university they are attending. They take care of everything. They make sure you have enough money (when you pay their fees) to cover tuition there, housing, etc...it's all part of the fees. They take you on tours, as part of the program. They take care of the visas (or point YOU to where you need to go to get them.) Go to your foreign studies office at your college. Ask for an application. Oh, and, if you're a major in Spanish, and you are considering living there to become fluent, you need to stay for a full year.

It sounds very much like you are an American. As such you have a number of different options open to you..... If you are still at University you can apply to come and study here in Spain as a Foreign Exchange Student, and your Uni in the US should help you with the paperwork ( Here's how - http://www.tumbit.com/how-to-guides/articles/102-applying-for-a-student-exchange-program-in-spain.html) alternatively, you may come here under your own steam, but this will require you to apply for Residential status as a Non-EU Citizen (Here's how - http://www.tumbit.com/how-to-guides/articles/135-applying-for-residential-status-residencia-non-eu-citizens.html)
