1. If you are citizen of the EU you don´t need visa, if not, yes 2. Find a job, but remember, the unemployment rate will be at about 20% by the end of the year 3. Register (empadronarte) in Benalmadena (or where you will be living) 4. Apply at Comisaría de la Policia Nacional (where it is they will tell you in the town hall) for a NIE (número de identificación de extranjeros). Without this number no work!!! 5. with this number register yourself and with your social security card with the health system 6. Register your drivers licence with the Guardia Civil (in case it gets lost; if EU citizen you don´t have to change it) 7. Le4arn the language of the country!!! It is Spanish (Castellano) and NOT english.

You don't tell us where you are from, but if you are going to relocate, it might be a good idea to know how to spell the name of your new town. Yes, most people from most countries need a visa...it's built in if your passport is from an EU country. You check with the nearest Spanish Embassy/Consulate. Keep in mind that Spain's unemployment rate is about 20% these days, so, if you're going to need a job...you can probably forget it...all jobs go to the Spanish applicants, first. That is, unless you are a famous neurosurgeon or something like that...but then, most neurosurgeons know how to spell, and capitalize. (read: not a good time to be thinking about making such a move. Maybe if the economy improves in the next few years, but right now...kinda difficult).

If you are from another EU country you can move here anytime you like, but if you are not, then it will become a long drawn out process. Why would anyone wanting to relocate to another country want to move to Benalmadena. There are some really beautiful places over here, Benalmadena is not one of them. As for how to go about it, you do your homework like the rest of us before we came here. Come here for a holiday, make an appointment to see a good English speaking abogado (lawyer) and get their advice.

Do you mean Benalmadena? Its gorgeous there, lucky you... Mmm it may take some time, Yes you will need a visa to stay there permantely(this goes to if u are not from EU), you will probably get one that is for 4 months or something, then you need it re-newed, i dont think you get given a permanent visa straight away. You need to contact your Embassy, or/& the Spanish Embassy.
